Meet Yahia – Driven to Grow
At JGA Emballage, Yahia has found a workplace where he feels at home and has the opportunity to grow. His desire to keep learning drives him forward, both at work and in his personal life.
Four years ago, Yahia Aljaroudi began his journey at JGA as a wood industry worker. Since then, he has developed significantly in his role, learning everything from hand nailing to operating various machines in production. What motivates him is the desire to continuously develop and learn new things.
“I enjoy my job and always want to learn more. It feels good to gain a deeper understanding,” says Yahia.
In his role as a wood industry worker, Yahia handles various types of production orders and is always happy to help his colleagues when needed. His working days include preparing materials, adjusting machines and making sure the right orders are prioritised in production.
“I know how the job works now, and if anything is unclear, we solve it together.”
Work became an important part of building a life in Sweden
Going to work every day means a great deal to Yahia. After arriving in Sweden from Syria in 2014, working life has become an important part of both his language development and everyday life.
“The best thing is having a job to go to and meeting people. I’d like to improve my Swedish so I can talk more with my colleagues.”
Before moving to Sweden, he had worked in several different professions. In Syria, he worked with ironing clothes, among other things, and in Sweden he has worked in welding, painting and construction. Over the years, he has gained experience from many different industries.
“When you come to a new country, it’s good to be open to different kinds of jobs. I’ve learned so much here in Sweden.”
A workplace where people help each other
He describes JGA as a workplace where people support one another and where there is always someone to ask for help.
“It’s great working here. We work closely together and help each other. Many people have worked here for a long time.”
The fact that the workplace is also close to his home is an added bonus.
An interest in gardening and growing vegetables
When he is not working, Yahia enjoys spending time at home in his garden. He grows cucumbers, tomatoes and other vegetables, and in the future he dreams of building a greenhouse where he can grow more Syrian vegetables.
“I enjoy working on things at home and learning new things there as well. I’d like to try growing more in the future.”
Looking ahead, he hopes to continue developing at JGA, both professionally and with the Swedish language.
“I enjoy it here and I’d like to keep learning more.”
